Constant Vigilance!
It’s the middle of January, and you can relax now. It’s all over, the insanity of the Santa Season has passed and all is calm - for a little while.
You have just over 2 weeks before the next Spend Session will be thrust in your face, because in just over 3 weeks Valentine’s Day will be upon us.
The marketing dudes have to time this very carefully. They have to take down all the store decorations, and have the post-Christmas specials and clearances out of the way. They know we need a few days to breathe and rest. Just when we begin to relax and think it’s now safe to go out into the malls again - WHAM! we are whacked with another spending event to show how much we care.
So starts the marketing hype of another totally useless way to waste money and time, two things of which none of us ever seem to have enough, the two things of which we are always hunting for more. The two things which once they’re gone, there is no getting them back.
So take a stand and just Say No to Valentine’s Day. This is a great way to get into practice nice and early for next Santa Season, for which there are only 291 shopping days to go。
If you feel the urge to do something for Valentine’s Day, a big warm hug is ideal. If you feel this may not be received in the right way, then a handwritten note with a heartfelt message will work every time.
Beware of Valentine’s Day - do you really need this in your life? If you are unsure of how to get off the consumer roundabout and start Saying No to things like Santa and St Valentine, then a great place to start is with the E-Book: Say No to Santa. Just click on the link over there to your right.
I am working on a great blog and website called How To Say No. It’s all about how to Say No to all sorts of things in your life, like people, habits, and consumerism, not just Santa. It will be up and running in the next few months. In the meantime, go read the E-Book and start Saying No now!
