How to Read E-Books

There are a number of ways to read e-books:

On your computer screen:

Like any document you will need software (an eBook 'reader') that will display your eBook and allow you to navigate through the text, bookmark where you are up to, find words and navigate from a table of contents. 

Two popular free readers for reading on a computer are:

• Adobe Digital Editions  - EPUB format for PC and MAC 
• MobiPocket Reader -  PRC/Mobi format for PC  

PDA/smartphone/iPhone/tablet: 

Most mobile devices come with some kind of pre-installed e-book reader, or you can easily download Mobipocket, Microsoft Reader, or a range of other programs depending on your device’s operating system.

Dedicated devices: New devices with “electronic ink” technology come very close to reproducing the appearance of printed text on paper pages. There are several devices on the market, but the leaders are:

How do I know if I need to download and install an ebook reader?

The easiest way is to download an ebook and open it on your computer or device - if it displays a message about being unable to read the file then use the links above or search on the internet for a reader.
